Gula, Marie I. of East Amherst, NY, passed away at home on Friday April 27, 2012. Born on June 13, 1933 in Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of John and Susan McMillian Gough. She worked at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for 15 years before retiring. Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Swormville and the St. Ann Society. She was an avid softball player in St. Catherines, Ontario, and loved nature, the outdoors, flowers and gardening. Marie participated in many clinical trials at Roswell Park Cancer Institute to benefit others in the fight of Leukemia (AML). Predeceased in 2001 by her husband, tanley Gula, she is survived by her six daughters, Barbara A. Gibbs, Catherine Dugan, Patricia Gula, Bernice Stradtman, Marie D. Holdsworth and Diane E. (William) Silvis; 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Lange Funeral home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on onday at 10:00 AM from St. Mary’s Chapel, Swormville, 6919 Transit Road, East Amherst, NY. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
