Paul R. Black of Lockport, NY passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on March 12, 1952 in Niskayuna, NY, he was the son of Mary Black (Burns) and Richard Black. He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Alice) and Jeffrey (Monica); sister, Paula Navarette; 4 nephews, Corey, Dustin, Spencer and Sam, and several aunts and uncles. Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 – 1979. He served on the destroyer, USS Lloyd Thomas, which saw action during the Vietnam War. He then became a Navy Recruiter in Chicago, IL. Paul was a retired Field Service Engineer for Syracuse Supply Machine Division in Cheektowaga, NY. He was well-respected, took great pride in his work and enjoyed teaching in his field. He was an accomplished amateur photographer, had a black belt in karate, enjoyed a good game of darts and dabbled in local politics and was never afraid to voice his opinion. Paul loved his cats, Eleanor, Abigail, Theodore and Jackson. They gave him great comfort during his battle with cancer. Friends may call on Monday 1:00 – 5:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY, where memories will be shared at 4:30 PM. A reception will be held at 5:00 PM at the Fieldstone Country Inn, 5986 S. Transit Rd., Lockport. Private interment in Glenwood Cemetery. Share condolences at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
