James Edwin “Jim” Fritton age 80 of Lockport, NY, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Born on February 2, 1945, in Lockport, he was the son of the late Frederick and Rita (Donner) Fritton. Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1968 – 1969 during the Korean War as Second Lieutenant and for years thereafter in active-duty reserves.
Jim was educated at Penn State University and was a lifelong, proud alumnus and champion of Penn State football. Though small in stature he excelled in many sports, beginning in high school as one of the famed “Mighty Mites”. He enjoyed cycling, rugby, skiing and swimming. A devout Catholic, Jim attended St. John’s Catholic Church throughout his lifetime and volunteered in a number of religious charities.
Predeceased by his youngest brother, John, Jim is survived by three brothers, Carl (Mary), Frank (Beverly) and Edward (Donna); cherished nieces, Debbie and Audrey and nephews, Michael and Marc and all of their children. He kept a full photographic display on hand of all the children as they grew.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Sept. 30th from 4-7 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 1st at 10 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery.
