Obituary of Jewell M. Stapf

Stapf, Jewell Margaret of Frederick, MD, formerly of Lockport, NY an Ocala, FL passed away on Thursday September 26, 2013. Born on April 21, 1921 on the family farm located in Pendleton, NY, she was the daughter of George and Florence Stegner Meyers. Being the oldest of five children much was expected of her in terms of her contribution to farm life; as a result, she was very proficient at many things. She acquired her chauffer’s license and drove young people with disabilities from Lockport to school in Buffalo and back. Later she earned her real estate license and a degree in accounting from Bryant and Stratton College which greatly helped her with her husband’s business, S.M. Pynn and Sons Plumbing and Heating. She was the controller for the Kenan Center for 13 years, retiring in 1983. While living in Lockport, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Christ Episcopal Church, Zonta Club and Lockport Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Florida in 1984 where she enjoyed collecting Hummels, sewing, golfing and dancing. In 2009, she moved to an assisted living facility in Maryland to be closer to her youngest daughter, There she enjoyed singing karaoke and attending musical programs. Wife of the late Spencer M. Pynn, Leonard R. Simms and Albert J Stapf, she is survived by her children, Nelia Pynn of Fairport, NY, David (Patricia) Pynn of Gasport, NY, Spencer L.(Sharon) Pynn of MT , Robert (Adrienne) Pynn of FL and Julane (Arthur) Anderson of MD, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, sister, Elizabeth Prendergast, three brothers, S. John (Marilynn) Meyers, William (Joan) Meyers and Franklin (Andre) Meyers and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Wednesday October 2, 2013 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY where funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157-5629, Wyndam Lawn Home, 6395 Old Niagara Rd., Lockport, NY 14094 or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
