Obituary of Arthur H. Showalter

Showalter, Arthur H. of Lockport, NY, passed away on Monday November 24, 2008 in Lockport Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 5, 1926 in South Windham, Maine and was the son of Arthur H. and Marguerite Dickinson Showalter. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a graduate of Bowdoin College in Maine. Mr. Showalter married the former Sally Gooding on May 3, 1952 and bought the S.S. Gooding Company in 1954. He was President of the Printing Company retiring in 1990. He was past Police Comissioner, on the Board of Trustees of the former Lockport Savings Bank, was a member of Rotary and a former member of The Tuscarora Club and the Town and Country Club. Surviving are his wife, Sally Gooding Showalter, his daughters, Nancy (Peter) Clark of New Boston, N.H. and Judy (Steven) Slabyk of Middleport, NY, five grandchildren, Andrea, Samantha and Alexander Slabyk and Abigail and Julie Clark, one brother, Charles (late Charlotte) Showalter of Pinehurst, N.C., one sister, Sarah (late Edwin) Hubbard of Longmeadow, MA and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Wednesday 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc. 186 East Ave., Lockport. Funeral services will be private with interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
