Obituary of Howard R. Neureuter

Howard R. Neureuter Neureuter, Howard R. of Dalton, Ma., passed away on Friday November 2, 2007. Born on January 15, 1923 in Buffalo, he was the son of Clarence and Clara Kaiser Neureuter. He graduated from Nichols School, Lehigh University and served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 86th Infantry Division in Europe as a Platoon Commander, discharged as a Captain. Mr. Neureuter worked for his family’s business, Hasselbeck Foods, which was acquired by the former Borden Foods Company and ended his career as Assistant Treasurer at Goldome Bank. He was active in the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce Key Club, the United Way, Junior Achievement as General Business Chairman, University of Buffalo Kappa Sigma Fraternity House Corp., served on the Council of Ascension Lutheran Church as Financial Secretary and was a charter member of the Buffalo Power Squadron earning his “N” in Navigation. He was a former member and past Treasurer of the Buffalo Yacht Club, Buffalo Canoe Club, the Buffalo Club and Park Country Club. Predeceased by his wife, Lydia Smith Neureuter, he is survived by his daughter, Ann N. (John F.) Burnham, granddaughters, Claire and Emily Burnham all of Dalton, MA, where he resided for the past four years,his brother, Roy R. (Judy) Neureuter of Williamsville and his sister-in-law, Vanette Townsend (the late Fred) Smith. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday November12, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Ascension Lutheran Church, 4640 Main St., Amherst. Interment in Cold Spring Cemetery, Lockport.
