Thelma I. Gillis Gillis, Thelma I. of Rochester, NY, formerly of Lockport, NY, passed away on Monday October 25, 2010 surrounded by the love of her family and was flown to heaven on the wings of a 1000 angels. She will be missed by everyone who’s life she touched along her journey. Thelma had an endless love for her family,always enjoyed a good laugh and constantly marveled at the beauty God created. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard: son, Thomas and parents, Thomas and Jessie Erle Purtell . Survived by her son, Skip Gillis of CT; her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Frank Fritton of NV and her daughter and life partner; Barbara Gillis and Diane Baillargeon of Rochester. Also survived by grandchildren Gerald (Laura) Gillis of MI and Virginia Gillis of CT, great grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Gillis of MI; her sister, Audrey (Thomas) Mayer of Lockport and several nieces and nephews. Thelma would like to acknowledge niece Debbie Perilli and her husband Marty with whom she shared a special bond. Just when the tiny caterpillar thought its life was over it emerged as a beautiful butterfly. Friends may call on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:30 AM in the Chapel of Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
