John R. Barnes Barnes, John R. of Lockport, NY entered into rest on Sunday November 7, 2010 at home. Born on June 20, 1924 in Burt, NY, he was the son of John E. and Violet Norris Barnes. He married Elizabeth Fisher Barnes on November 27, 1943. John worked at Harrison Radiator for 32 years, retiring in 1979 and owned a lawnmower repair shop. He and his sons’ interest in soapbox derby cars lead to 50 years of stock car racing. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Fisher Barnes; two sons, Thomas (Marilyn) Barnes and David (Cindy) Barnes; 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter; a sister, Shirley Fox; a brother, Allen Barnes and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia (William) Wolfe and his sister, Janis Bartlett. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:30 – 2:30 PM with a funeral service at 2:30 PM from Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Interment will follow in Huskey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
