Obituary of Donald J. Bartholomew

Bartholomew, Donald J., Sr. of Lockport, NY passed away on Tuesday December 20, 2011 in Buffalo General Hospital. Born on August 4, 1935 in Lockport, he was the son of Joseph and Rose Farina Bartholomew. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1957. Donald married the former Suzanne Stephens on December 7, 1963 and in the same time period started his trucking and excavating business. He was President and owner of Bartholomew Trucking and Excavating and was still working. As hard as he worked and as much as he accomplished in business, his family was most important to him. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Donald is survived by his wife Suzanne Stephens Bartholomew, his children, Jean (Richard) Oliver and Donald J. Bartholomew, Jr. both of Lockport; five grandchildren, Richard Oliver, Jr., Jessica (Sidney) Bright, David Bartholomew, Jillian Bartholomew and Andrea (Derrick) Cruz; five great grandchildren, Makinsey and Everett Bright, Amelia and Lydia Cruz and Blake Gandi; his former daughter-in-law, Candee Johnson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert (Ruth) and Albert (Voola) Bartholomew. Friends may call on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM. Interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
