Obituary of Myrtle K. Mayer

Mayer, Myrtle Kathleen Gaude of Lockport, NY, passed away on Tuesday March 6, 2012. Born on March 13, 1921 in Newfane, NY, she was the daughter of Richard and Hulda Allstein Gaude. She graduated from Lockport High School in 1939 and married Haldane Rupert Mayer in 1947. He predeceased her in 1993. They worked together in the Bewley Building in Lockport as owners and operators of Medical & Merchantile Discount Company until retirement. Mrs. Mayer was an avid bowler; she was a current participant and the longtime president of Murphy Insurance Bowling League at Allie Brandts. She was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Sabres, the Yankees and NASCAR. Mrs. Mayer was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda. Mrs. Mayer is survived by two sons, Haldane Robert Mayer of Alexandria, VA and Charles Elmer Mayer of Green Coves Springs, FL; grandchildren, Anne Mayer Turk and Rebecca Paige Mayer and great grandchildren, Sylvia Harper Turk, Graham William Turk and Ike Holden Turk all of whom reside in Los Angeles, CA. She is also survived by siblings, Miriam Martenson, Richard Gaude and Roger Gaude all of Lockport, NY. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Interment in Wrights Corners Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and School. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
