Thomas, Sharon G. of Lockport, NY passed away on Saturday July 21, 2012 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on July 14, 1952 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Wayland Nelson. For 28 years, Sharon was the Office Manager of Western Region 6, Civil Service Employee Association. She was a former Chairman of the Board of Aloma D. Johnson Charter School, a member of and Sunday school teacher at St. John Baptist Church, Buffalo, a literacy volunteer and in 2009 was the recipient of Black Achievers in Industry Award. Married in 1982, she is survived by her husband, Raymond H.P. Thomas; her son, Jeffrey Thomas of NYC; one sister, Jan (Louis) Ruffin of OH; three brothers, Larry Nelson, Terry Nelson both of OH and Melvin (Kathy) Nelson of MO; two nieces, Andrea Nelson and Serena Ruffin and two sisters-in-law, Constance Thomas and Claville Thomas Taylor. Friends may call on Thursday 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. There will be a visitation on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at St. John Baptist Church, 184 Goodell St., Buffalo, NY. with the funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Aloma D. Johnson Charter School, 833 Michigan St., Buffalo, NY 14203 or the American Cancer Society.
