Obituary of Thomas A. Rotondo

Rotondo, Thomas A., 101, of Lockport, NY passed away on Wednesday March 27, 2013. Born on June 23, 1911 in Lockport, he was the son of Joseph and Rose Meyers Rotondo. Thomas married Catherine Snyder on April 5, 1932 and they have been married for almost 81 years. Together they owned and operated Rotondo’s Grocery Store from 1951 until 1973. Their son, Tom, the former mayor, took over the business, however, Tom continued to work for several more years. Thomas was the oldest remaining alumni of the Kentucky Military Institute, a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Parish, member of the Lockport Optimist Club and was an avid reader of history and politics. He also enjoyed the horse races and was a Yankee and Notre Dame Football fan. The Rotondo’s vacationed in Florida for many winters. Thomas is the beloved husband of Catherine Snyder Rotondo; loving father of Thomas (Anna Marie) Rotondo, Barbara (Robert) Seefeldt Pool, Rosemary (James) Sullivan and the late Joseph (Mary Ann) Rotondo; grandfather of Lisa (James) Budde, Mary Catherine (Jeff) St. Onge, Linda (Tim) Lederhouse, Annie (Martin) Hall, Kristina (Steven) Flaschner, Christopher (Liz) Seefeldt, Richard Seefeldt, Anthony (Anne) Rotondo, Jeffrey Rotondo, Eric Sullivan and Jordan (Michael) Kingston; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandson and uncle of several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings, Theresa Riley, Casper Rotondo, Frank Rotondo and Marguerite McCarty. Friends may call on Monday 1-4 & 7-9 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10:00 AM from St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport, NY. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc. or DeSales Catholic School.
