I'm saddened by Esther's death. I taught with her for a number of years at LSHS, and she was a good friend and mentor to me. She was a person who truly made a difference in the world. To Esther's Family: I apologize for not being able to express my sympathies personally...a family commitment on Sunday afternoon. I was saddened to hear of Esther's passing; I took her place at North Park - never being able to fully "take her place," of course. I think that Esther was one of the most respected people that I ever met, both personally and professionally. If you were to look up "role model" in Webster's, most likely Esther's picture would be there. Over the years, I had many discussions about an astonishing array of subjects with Esther...she knew so much about everything, it seemed and taught me much. The early, fledgling days of the teacher's union were argumentative and divisive at times; Esther's was always a voice of reason. Please know that she will be remembered as a loyal, passionate person, a believer in the good in everyone, particularly her students; in their minds, she will always be their favorite teacher. ...and for so many reasons. My best to your families; Esther was a friend to many people. Regards, Ted Hadley ;
