Obituary of Thomas J. Conlin

Conlin, Thomas J., Lieutenant Colonel US Army (Ret.), of Gasport, NY passed away at home on December 13, 2008. Born in Lockport, NY on March 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Catherine Coleman Conlin. After graduating from DeSales Catholic High School, class of ’56, he attended Canisius College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960 and then a Master of Science degree from the Florida Institute of Technology in 1975. Mr. Conlin served in the US Army from 1960 – 1980. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Army Commendation Medal (three awards) and numerous service and campaign medals including five Vietnam Service awards. After leaving the Army, he worked as Corporate Counsel from 1985 – 2000 for Electronic Data Systems of Plano, Texas. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society, DeSales Education Council, on the Board of Directors of the Niagara County Historical Society, a member of the Elks Club, Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Clinton Club. He was also a member of the Town & Country Club of Lockport. Mr. Conlin married his wife Mary Ann Newton Conlin on December 24, 1960. As well as his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kellie Conlin Johnson (Mark), Molly Conlin McAleer (Patrick), and Amy Conlin Hall (Michael) all of Virginia, grandchildren Abby, Chad and Mary Katherine. He is also survived by his sister, Joleen (Charles) Kenyon, his mother-in-law, Concetta “Min” Newton and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday 3:00-8:00 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc. 186 East Avenue, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10:30 AM at All Saints Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport.
