Domenica Elizabeth (Betty) MacDonald of Lockport, NY passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020. Born on October 26, 1932 in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Charlotte (Carmonne) Montepare. Betty attended St. Joseph’s Academy and worked primarily at raising her family, holding various hospitality jobs. A devoted Catholic, Betty was one of the first female servers at St. Anthony’s parish. She was a member of the Lockport Chorale and was an avid golfer. For a time, Betty could be found playing golf almost any day of the week at Niagara County or Niagara Orleans golf courses participating in many leagues. She enjoyed live theater performances having seasonal subscriptions to Shea’s Buffalo and The Shaw Festival for several years. Betty also loved Country Western music seeing many performances of the genre’s luminaries including Buck Owens, Sonny James and Johnny Cash. She had an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor who could trade jibes with the best of them. Raised in the Lockport west end, she identified deeply with her Italian roots. She was an excellent cook whose Italian meals rivalled those served in the best Italian restaurants in WNY. She loved her Miller Lite, and despite her petite frame, had the ability to consume mass quantities with seemingly no affect. Predeceased by the great love of her life, her husband of 53 years, Charles Joseph MacDonald. She is survived by her four children, Charles R. (Amy), Michael P. (Sylvia), Thomas D. (Anna) MacDonald and Rebecca A. (Dana) Ash and her loving grandchildren, Ryann, Carly, Maren, Audrey, Colin, Kayla and Alexander; great grandsons, Cash and Dax and her dog, Millie. Other family members include in-laws, Helen (late John, Jr.) Coleman, Katherine (late John) Lange, Robert and Dawn MacDonald, Carol (late William) Davin, Dennis and Roberta MacDonald, Rita and Thomas Heary and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Daniel (late Violet) Montepare, Rosemary (late Earl) Kiser and Laura (late James) Marvin. Friends may call on Sunday, January 19th 3-7 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM in All Saints R.C. Parish, 76 Church St. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara SPCA. Condolences may be offered to the family at langefuneralhomeinc.com.
