Margaret Eileen Chapman of Lockport, NY passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. Born May 1, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Bertha (Venator) Arthur. After graduating from Alfred State College, she worked at Lockport YMCA, Niagara County Bank and Lockport High School. In 1949, she married George E. Chapman, raised three children and in 1967 went to work in the guidance department of LHS, retiring in 1989.
Eileen was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a church council member. She belonged to Family Relations Mother’s Club, YWCA “Y” Wives, Lockport Garden Club, Timber Pines Archival Board (FL), Highland Glens board of directors, Lockport High School Foundation and the Worthington Ridge board of Directors.
Predeceased by an infant brother, Russell A. Arthur, she is survived by her husband of 70 years, George E. Chapman; loving mother of Russell A. (Kathie) Chapman of Little Elm, Texas, Randall G. (Suzanne “Sandy”) Chapman of Lockport and Cheryll E. (Joseph) Loiars of Winter Springs, FL. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christopher Chapman, Brent (Caryl) Chapman and Dr. Meredith (Kevin) Reiman, Nathan Loiars, Kimberly (Tyler Barnes) Loiars, Jillian Loiars, Matthew Loiars, Ian (Melanie) O’Neill and Daniel O’Neill; three great grandchildren, Connor, Morrison, Emerie and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private for the family. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to First English Lutheran Church, 185 Locust Street, Lockport, NY 14094. Condolences may be offered to the family at langefuneralhomeinc.com.
