Obituary of Gladys Fly

Gladys Fly Fly, Gladys of Lockport, NY, formerly of West Seneca, NY passed away on Thursday February 12, 2009 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born on January 3, 1921 in Southport, England, she was the daughter of Lewis and Ellen Hesketh Howard. Gladys obtained the rank of Corporal in the Royal Air Force serving from 1941 until 1945. She and her husband, the late Joe D. Fly, Jr. were married in 1945 and they lived many places due to his career in the military, settling in Western New York in 1968. After her husband passed away in 2000, Gladys moved to Lockport in 2001 to be with her family. She retired from The Cheese Factory in Blasdell, NY and was a member of the Harvey Morin V.F.W. Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, Christ Episcopal Church and The Dale Association. She is survived by her son, Joe D. (Janice L.) Fly of Lockport, three grandchildren, Kerry (Stephanie) Fly, Christopher Fly and Andrew (Amy) Fly, and three great grandchildren, Dexter, Dylan and Ian Fly. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Christ Episcopal Church, Rochester Rd and Fieldcrest Dr., Lockport. Interment will be in Arlington NationalCemetery, VA at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army. You may post a message of sympathy at www.langefuneralhomeinc.com.
