Elizabeth S. Herberger of Lockport, NY, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Elderwood of Lockport. Born on November 15, 1923 in Andrews, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late John and Bessie (Fritz) Stanley. During WWII Liz served in the U.S. Marine Corps Women’s Reserve from 1944 - 1946. She attended Taylor University (1950) and Western Michigan University (1952) for Occupational Therapy. Retiring after 25 years (1980) from Mt. View Health Facility where she was Director of Occupation Therapy. Former member and volunteer of Lockport Camera Club, Zonta Club of Lockport, NYS Occupational Therapy Association, Hospice and Office of the Aging Nutrition Program. Liz was very active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School and was a Youth Counselor. Predeceased by husbands, Howard Pilkey (1985) and Donald Herberger (2008) and brothers, Paul, John and James Stanley. Liz is survived by her brother, Joseph Stanley: stepchildren, Gail Ward, John (Bernadette) Pilkey, John (Carol) Herberger, Thomas (Patricia) Herberger, Ann (Stephen) Gordon, James Herberger, Patricia (David) Denny, Michael (Linda) Herberger, Donna (Stephen) Herberger-Rycyna, Virginia (Thomas) Herberger-Lumb and Theresa (Todd) Layer and several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave. Lockport, NY. Memorials may be made to the church or Niagara Hospice, Inc. Inurnment in Hartland Central Cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family at langefuneralhomeinc.com.
