John L. Newhard, formerly of Lockport, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in Hoosick Falls, NY. Born on December 19, 1926, in Carey, OH, he was the son of the late Jay P., Jr. and Martha (Hart) Newhard. John proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1944 – 1946 and was retired from the Lockport Board of Education as a Bookkeeper. He was a member of South Lockport Volunteer Fire Company and a Past Master (1965) and long-time member of Red Jacket Lodge #646 (1950). He earned the designation of Right Worshipful and was the Grand Representative of Florida. John is predeceased by his wife Mary (Lockie) Newhard and son, James L. Newhard. He is survived by two grandsons, Jon (Lisa) Newhard and Jay (Ashley) Newhard; four great-grandchildren, James Newhard, Charlie Newhard, Caleb Newhard and Emily Newhard; sister, Jane Nichols Bates and nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 11:00 AM– 12:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport followed by a Masonic Service and Funeral Service. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Red Jacket Lodge #646, 1 Cottage St., Lockport, NY 14094. Condolences may be offered to the family at langefuneralhomeinc.com.
