Obituary of Mark W. Dietz

Mark W. Dietz of Lockport, NY, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at home. Born on September 29, 1946 in Lockport, he was the son of the late George and Leona (Beers) Dietz. Mark earned a BA from Roberts Wesleyan College and retired from General Motors. Mark was an avid musician since he was a teen. As an adult, he played in popular local bands and even made a record. A member of Calvary Baptist Church, he was the drummer for the worship Team. Mark was a UAW (United Auto Workers) delegate who represented the Lockport chapter on visits to the State legislature in Albany. He enjoyed gardening and was a history buff. Mark was the husband of Cynthia Bil Dietz; father of Erika (Wiegert) Dietz and Gretchen Penrose; step-father of Todd Kureczka and Amy Kureczka; grandchildren, Sophia Penrose, Trevor, Nolan, Lexie, Rhenna, Sebastian and Jackson; brother of Charles (Gail) Dietz, Janice (Dennis) Croniser and the late Mary Ellen Dietz; uncle of nieces and nephews and special friend of Gary O’Mara. A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM in Calvary Baptist Church, 405 Lincoln Ave., Lockport. Private interment in Huskey Cemetery.
