Harold B. Smith, Jr. of Lockport, NY, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, in Niagara Hospice House. Born on March 5, 1931, in Crafton, PA, he was the son of Harold B., Sr. and Hazel (Gray) Smith. Harold and his high school sweetheart, the former, Barbara Van Horne, married June 20, 1953. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1951 – 1959 and retired as the Director of Guidance from Starpoint Central School.

Harold was very much a family man and loved animals. He was a long time and active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and enjoyed, golf, bowling, the Pittsburgh Pirates and traveling with his wife after retirement.

Beloved husband of Barbara (Van Horne) Smith for 70 years; father of Jennifer Smith, Gordon (Maryann) Smith and Debra Smith (Duane) Hill; grandfather of Ryan (Stephanie) Kelley, the late Amy Kelley, Bradley (Ashley) Smith, Philip (Kathryn) Smith, Emily (Alec) Smith, Michelle Hill and Gabrielle Hill and great-grandfather of 11.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 19th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport. Interment in Cold Springs Cemetery.
