I remember my older sister Rebecca ( Becky )as us kids would call her, being left in charge during my parents absence. Whether it was due to my parent's working, stepping out with each other, etc. In particular, one early, frosty morning while she was guarding over us, 4 of us kids at the time were playing follow the leader. Well, you remember the scene from the movie where the kid gets his tongue, stuck on the pole YEP, That Movie!! Well, Becky being the leader sticks her tongue to the pole and jumps out of the way for my sister Mary to follow. So far so good. Next, my sister Mary follows suit, Piece of cake. So I'm next, stick out my tongue and no problem. move away for my brother to follow suit, but he started fussing, didn't wanna do it. So I tell him it's okay Joey, watch, so I proceed to stick my tongue on the pole but for whatever reason it won't come off! My sister says what's the matter, however I can't talk. She gets this great idea and says wait, I'll be right back. I'll go to the house and get some boiling water to melt the frozen water around your tongue. She takes off like a jet!! After I moment my mind kicks in and I suddenly realize if she pours boiling water on the pole by my face to melt the ice, I'll probably get my face burned. At that thought I start crying uncontrollably, and just moments before she got to me with the boiling water, Hallelujah, my tears melted the ice and I escaped being scared for life. True story, but Becky tried her best to keep us safe, whether we liked it or not! I know she's in a great place with our parents, and other family members, and she's not suffering any more!
