Joan E. Callahan age 90, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Northgate Health Care Facility. Born on February 16, 1934, in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Lembke) Laux. Joan graduated from West Seneca High School and worked as a young woman at both New York Telephone and Buffalo Insurance as a secretary. She met her future husband David while volunteering at a USO dance when he was a young Marine.

Joan belonged to St. John the Baptist Church in Lockport. She was an avid reader, liked to do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, loved animals, visiting new places, and spending time with her family. She spent her last days at Northgate Health Care Facility, which she considered her second home. She was an enthusiastic participant in bingo and many other programs and was well-loved by the staff there.

Predeceased by husband, David P. Callahan, and siblings, Carl Laux and Janis Ketterer. She is survived by children, Joanne Boyce, David P., Jr., William (Kim), Karl (Sherry) and Janice Callahan; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
