Barbara J. Bermudez of Gasport, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Born on March 5, 1929, in Lockport, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Annette (Conklin) Shafer. After graduating from high school, she joined a dance troupe based in Cincinnati, Ohio which at one time included a USO tour to Korea. During the dance troupe’s Caribbean tour that stopped in Havana, Cuba she met her late husband. After their marriage they settled in her family homestead in Gasport and raised their two sons. She was an avid gardener, accomplished painter and enjoyed playing the organ. Predeceased by her husband, Antonio “Tony” Bermudez in 2022, Barbara is survived by two sons, Barry (Judith) Bermudez and Bradley (Peggy) Bermudez; four grandchildren, Angela (Anthony) Cayce, Diana (Mitch Porter) Bermudez, Benjamin Bermudez and Alicia Bermudez and three great- grandchildren, Liliana and Olivia Cayce and Cole Porter. Friends may call on Tuesday, Nov. 26th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport, NY. Services will follow at 4:00 PM. Private interment in Royalton Mountain Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the S.P.C.A. Condolences may be offered to the family at Langefuneralhomeinc.com.
