Richard G. MacFarlane MacFarlane, Richard G. of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Lockport, passed away on Wednesday May 28, 2008 at home. Born on May 1, 1928 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Robert and Henrietta Dreher MacFarlane. A life long Lockport businessman, he started with his ESSO garage on Main & Elm Street and then opened MacFarlane Plumbing & Heating, retiring in 1992, leaving his son, Kent to take over. Since the late 1940’s, he has been a successful land developer as well. Mr. MacFarlane was a member of the Lions Club, the Tuscarora Club and the Romeo Club. He also helped organize the Tuscarora Yacht Club in Wilson where he was Commodore. Boating was his passion and he covered many ports along Lake Ontario and through out New York. Eventually along with his wife, he ventured as far as the great loop to Florida and back. He married Joan Manson Farrell on July 15, 1992, and she survives. He is the father of Vicki MacFarlane, Nanette MacFarlane, Kent (Mona) MacFarlane and Candace (Steven) Haylett all of Lockport and the late Heather Larsen, grandfather of Joshua MacFarlane, Ryan MacFarlane, Marlo MacFarlane, Liza MacFarlane, Brett Haylett, Brandi Haylett and Taryn Torriere, stepfather of Michael (Carol) Farrell, Kathy Killion, Sharon (Don) Rieger, Matthew (Krista) Farrell, Kevin Farrell and Peter (Jennifer) Farrell, step grandfather of 9 and step great grandfather of 5 and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three sisters, Shirley (Jack) Bentley, Phylis (Mark) Huntington and Sue (the late Ed) Budde and one brother, William (Mildred) MacFarlane. Family and friends may call on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Lange Funeral Home, Inc. 186 East Ave. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Second Presbyterian Church, 71 Van Buren St. Interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
