I didn't know Melanie, I'm only a student at Fredonia who received an email from the school about her death. I just wanted to let you know how very sorry I am that I won't be seeing her around campus this Fall. Campus always benefits from the eagerness and optimism of new college Freshmen, and I know her loss will be felt around campus. Please know that Melanie won't be forgotten, even by the peers she never got to meet. :( Again, I'm so so sorry for your loss. Melanie will be missed by all of us here at Fredonia.

I don't know you or your family but I felt compelled to reach out and say something... I am so sorry to hear about Melanie's passing.... My heart is so heavy with sorrow.... My daughter is a transfer student, and just began her studies at Fredonia... My daughter said she discussed this awful tragedy with some other students, and they were all pretty sad about it, even without ever knowing Melanie... As a parent, we try our best to keep our children safe, but sometimes life is just way out of our control no matter what we do.... Hello my name is Nyle Higgs and I was Melanie's orientation leader for this summer. I am so sorry for your loss, and I can't even imagine what your going through. She was an energetic student who seemed excited for the fall. I didn't have enough time with her to know her personally, but I know she would have been one of the many students I had in my groups I would have loved to see around campus. I've seen on Facebook that her fellow 2020 classmates are expressing a lot love toward her. Again I am very sorry and may she rest in peace.
